Classic White Kitchen with Stacked Cabinets, Black Accents and a Waterfall Peninsula
These homeowners wanted a kitchen with timeless character and a lot more storage, something that would feel elegant and traditional but still fresh. Their home has warm golden walls and plenty of doorways leading into the kitchen, so we designed a layout that makes the most of every wall while keeping the room open and easy to move through.
Cabinets
We chose white cabinets with a recessed panel door and a fine detail around the edge, which gives them a more refined look than a simple shaker. On the main cooking wall, tall pantry columns stand on both sides and reach all the way to the ceiling, topped with small glass front cabinets that add a light, airy touch. Between them, stacked upper cabinets and deep drawers below give the family an enormous amount of storage, all finished with layered crown molding.
On another wall, double wall ovens and the refrigerator are built right into tall cabinets, so the appliances blend neatly into the design. Matte black pulls and knobs on every door and drawer give the white cabinetry a crisp, modern contrast.
The Cooking Wall
The cooking wall is perfectly symmetrical, with the pantries framing a black chimney hood in the center. Behind it, we ran the countertop stone up the wall as a full slab backsplash. The stone has a soft grey background with swirling texture and fine white veins, which adds movement and depth without overwhelming the room. The black hood stands out beautifully against it and ties in with the black hardware.
The Island and Peninsula
In the middle of the room, a small island gives the family extra prep space and storage, finished with decorative posts for a furniture style look.
The large angled peninsula is where everyone gathers. It holds a workstation sink with a built in cutting board and a matte black pull down faucet, and the stone drops down the end in a waterfall edge for a clean, modern finish. On the seating side, we used raised panel backs with built in outlets, so the peninsula looks just as polished from the family room as it does from inside the kitchen.
Finishing Touches
A classic chandelier with a decorative ceiling medallion hangs in the center of the room, adding a touch of old world charm that complements the traditional cabinetry. Together with the golden walls and white trim, it gives the kitchen a warm, welcoming glow.
The Result
The finished kitchen is elegant, organized and full of character, with storage from floor to ceiling, a striking black and white palette and a waterfall peninsula that brings the family together.
