Grey Shaker Kitchen with a Marble Flower Mosaic Accent
The homeowners wanted a kitchen that felt warm and modern at the same time, with plenty of storage and one detail that would make guests stop and look. We kept the palette soft and simple, then gave the cooking wall a little bit of artistry.
Cabinets
We chose shaker cabinets in a soft grey stain that lets a subtle wood grain show through. It is warmer than a flat painted grey and adds texture and depth to every door. The uppers are finished with crown molding, and dark bronze pulls run throughout for a rich, classic look that ties in with the stainless appliances.
Storage was a big priority. The lower cabinets are mostly deep drawers, so pots, pans and dishes are always easy to reach. Next to the refrigerator, we installed a tall double pantry with a cabinet above the fridge, which gives the wall a clean, built in look. The microwave is set into the base cabinets with a drawer below, keeping it handy without taking up counter space.
The Cooking Wall
The focal point of the kitchen is right above the range. We installed a marble mosaic in a flower pattern, with white and grey petals that create a soft, elegant design. We ran it all the way up to the ceiling behind the stainless chimney hood, so it reads like a piece of art framed by the cabinets on either side. A professional style gas range with a stainless backguard sits right below, ready for serious cooking.
Countertops and Backsplash
The countertops are a white quartz with fine grey veining that keeps the room bright and pairs beautifully with the grey cabinetry. Around the rest of the kitchen, we carried the same quartz up the wall as a full slab backsplash. It keeps the look clean and makes daily cleanup quick and easy, and it lets the flower mosaic stand out even more.
The Island
The angled island gives the family plenty of prep space and opens the kitchen to the rest of the home. It holds a large workstation sink with a roll up drying rack and a high arc faucet, plus a pop up outlet built right into the counter for small appliances and chargers.
The Result
The finished kitchen is warm, organized and full of quiet character, with stained grey cabinets, a bright quartz backdrop and a marble flower accent that gives the whole room its personality.
