High Gloss European Kitchen in White and Mocha with a Wood Slat Island
This home has a long, open layout that connects the kitchen, dining area and living room, and the homeowners wanted a kitchen that would feel sleek and modern from every angle. We designed a European style kitchen with high gloss cabinetry, a warm metallic tone and a long island that ties the whole space together.
Cabinets
We chose handleless European cabinets in two high gloss finishes. The upper cabinets are bright white gloss, running in a long, clean line across the main wall. The reflective surface bounces light around the room and makes the kitchen feel even more open.
For the lower cabinets, the island and the tall columns, we used a rich mocha gloss with a soft metallic shimmer. It adds warmth and depth and pairs beautifully with the white uppers and the glossy floors. Slim aluminum channels replace traditional handles, and a matching aluminum toe kick along the bottom gives the cabinetry a floating, polished look.
At the end of the island run, tall mocha columns frame the refrigerator and offer plenty of pantry storage, keeping the appliance wall clean and fully built in.
Countertops and Backsplash
The countertops are a bright white quartz that keeps the space light and easy to maintain. Along the main wall, we carried the same quartz up as a full slab backsplash, so the surface flows seamlessly from the counter to the upper cabinets. A stainless chimney hood sits above the range for a clean, modern focal point.
The Island
The island stretches across the room and serves as the main work zone. It holds a large workstation sink with a built in cutting board, a brushed pull down faucet, the dishwasher and deep handleless drawers, so prep and cleanup happen in one place. On the seating side, we finished the panel with vertical wood slats that add natural texture and contrast nicely with the glossy finishes. There is room for four stools, making it the perfect spot for casual meals and conversation.
Crystal cylinder pendants hang above the island and add a little sparkle to the clean, modern design.
The Result
The finished kitchen is sleek, warm and perfectly suited to open concept living, with high gloss European cabinetry, seamless quartz surfaces and an island that brings everyone together.
