High Gloss European Kitchen with Two Waterfall Islands
This home has a big, open layout with natural light pouring in from every direction, and the homeowners wanted a kitchen that would match that bright, airy feeling. Their goal was a clean, luxurious look with plenty of room for family meals and entertaining. We designed a European style kitchen with high gloss cabinetry, dramatic stone surfaces and not one but two waterfall workspaces.
Cabinets
We chose handleless European cabinetry in two complementary high gloss finishes. The upper cabinets are a soft light grey with a subtle linear texture that adds depth without taking away from the clean look. The lower cabinets are a bright white gloss with recessed aluminum channels instead of hardware, which keeps every line sleek and uninterrupted.
On one wall, tall gloss cabinets frame the refrigerator and run nearly floor to ceiling, giving the family a huge pantry and storage wall that looks completely built in. The reflective finish bounces natural light around the room and makes the whole space feel even bigger.
The Cooking Wall
At the center of the main run, a professional style gas range sits beneath a stainless chimney hood. Behind it, we installed a white slab with soft grey veining that runs all the way up to the ceiling around the hood, then continues along the entire backsplash. Under cabinet lighting washes the stone in a soft glow and makes the veining stand out beautifully.
The Island
The main island is a showpiece. It is wrapped in the same white stone with bold grey veining, with waterfall edges that drop down both ends so the island looks like a solid block of marble. On the working side, deep drawers and a built in microwave drawer keep everything organized, and on the other side there is seating for four. Our fabrication team carefully matched the veins around the corners for a seamless, natural flow.
The Peninsula
Across from the island, a second workspace wraps around the window wall as a peninsula. It holds the main sink with a brushed gold pull down faucet and the dishwasher, and it finishes with its own waterfall edge at the end. Bar stools tuck underneath for casual meals or morning coffee, creating a second gathering spot right next to the dining area. With two large work surfaces, several people can cook, prep and clean up at the same time without getting in each other’s way.
Finishing Touches
Brushed gold accents in the faucet and lighting add warmth to the cool palette, and the glossy white porcelain floors carry the bright, clean look throughout the kitchen and living areas.
The Result
The finished kitchen is bright, elegant and made for gathering, with high gloss European cabinets, sweeping stone surfaces and two waterfall workspaces that make cooking and entertaining a pleasure.
