Sage and White Kitchen with a Waterfall Peninsula

This one started with a simple wish list: bright, a little classic, and a kitchen people would actually want to hang out in while dinner gets made. Here’s how it came together.

We went with two colors on the cabinets. The uppers are crisp white and run all the way to the ceiling, with glass door cabinets on top that light up from inside. They’re a great spot for glassware or the dishes that only come out on holidays. Down below, the base cabinets are a soft sage green. It keeps the room from feeling too sterile and hides everyday wear a lot better than white would.

The range hood is probably our favorite piece in the room. We built it in the same sage as the lowers and wrapped it with a brushed brass band, which ties right into the gold pulls and the brass knobs on the white ZLINE range underneath. Small detail, but it pulls the whole wall together.

For the counters we used a white quartz with soft gray and gold veining, then carried the same slab up the wall as a full height backsplash. No grout lines to scrub, and the veining flows from the countertop right up behind the stove. The peninsula finishes with a waterfall edge, so the stone drops all the way to the floor. On the seating side we wrapped it in a warm wood panel, which adds some contrast and makes the bar area feel more like a piece of furniture than a run of cabinets.

A few other things that made the cut: a white farmhouse sink under the window, a small prep island right next to the range, LED lighting under every upper cabinet, and a glass globe chandelier that gives a classic room a bit of a modern edge.
