White Kitchen with a Navy Furniture Style Island and Gold Veined Countertops
The homeowners wanted a kitchen that felt bright, classic and a little bit elegant, with one standout piece to give it personality. Their home has lots of windows and natural light, so we kept the perimeter clean and white and let a custom navy island take center stage.
Cabinets
Along the walls, we installed white cabinets with a recessed panel door and a fine beaded detail that gives them a more refined look than a standard shaker. The uppers are staggered in height and finished with crown molding, which adds depth and makes the kitchen feel custom built for the space. Brushed gold pulls bring warmth to all that white and tie in with the soft gold tones in the countertops.
The refrigerator is framed with tall panels and a cabinet above, so it sits neatly inside the cabinetry. The wall oven is built in right below the induction cooktop, keeping the cooking zone compact and efficient.
The Island
The island is where this kitchen really shines. We designed it with a furniture style look, using a deep navy finish, raised panels, decorative end posts and a base molding along the bottom. It looks less like a cabinet box and more like a beautiful piece of furniture sitting in the middle of the room. There is seating on one side, outlets with matching navy covers built into the panels and plenty of storage on the working side.
Countertops and Backsplash
The countertops are a white surface with soft grey and gold veining that gives the look of Calacatta marble without the upkeep. We carried the same material up the walls as a full slab backsplash, so the veins flow from the counters right up to the cabinets with no grout lines to clean. Next to the dishwasher, the countertop drops down the end panel in a waterfall edge for a clean, modern finish. With the under cabinet lights on, the gold veining really glows.
The Sink Area
Under the window, a black workstation sink with a built in cutting board and drying rack makes prep and cleanup easy. A matte black pull down faucet adds a modern contrast that pairs beautifully with the navy island and the brushed gold hardware.
The Result
The finished kitchen is bright, warm and full of character, with a navy island that feels like a true centerpiece and finishes that will look beautiful for years to come.
