This family loves to cook and loves to host, and their kitchen needed to do both. They wanted a bright, timeless space that would feel at home with the vaulted ceilings and big windows in their living area, plus an island that could handle everything from homework to holiday parties. We designed a classic white kitchen with warm brass touches and an island built with entertaining in mind.
Timeless Cabinetry
We lined the walls with white shaker cabinets that keep the room fresh and bright. Brushed brass pulls add warmth and a subtle touch of elegance against the clean white doors. Next to the refrigerator, tall pantry cabinets give the family generous storage, and a cabinet above the fridge ties the whole wall together so it looks fully built in.
A Hood with Character
The cooking wall features a custom hood with a soft curved shape, finished in white with a warm wood band along the bottom. That little bit of natural wood adds texture and keeps the white kitchen from feeling too plain. Behind the range, a white marble tile in a herringbone pattern brings classic charm, and a brushed brass pot filler mounted right on the wall makes filling big pots quick and easy. With the under cabinet lights on, the marble gives off a soft, warm glow.
An Island Made for Entertaining
The island is the heart of this kitchen. It is wide and long, topped with a bright white quartz that gives the family a huge surface for prep, serving and casual meals. We designed it with furniture style details, including decorative end panels and a base molding along the bottom, and added matte black pulls on the island doors for a touch of contrast.
The best part is at the end of the island. We built in a pair of X shaped wine racks right next to a dual zone wine fridge, so bottles are always on hand and perfectly chilled when guests arrive. At the sink, a brushed brass bridge faucet with a separate sprayer adds a vintage feel that pairs beautifully with the hardware and pot filler.
Warm Finishing Touches
Black lantern pendants hang over the island and dining area, adding a hint of farmhouse style. Warm wood look flooring runs through the kitchen and living spaces, balancing the white cabinetry and making the whole open plan feel cozy and connected.
The Result
The finished kitchen is bright, warm and full of classic character, with a custom hood, a herringbone marble backsplash and an island that is just as ready for a quiet breakfast as it is for a crowd.
