Walnut and Black Stone Media Wall
A TV wall doesn’t have to be an afterthought. In this home, it became the centerpiece of the whole living room.
The homeowners had a big, open space with a long blank wall and wanted something that felt custom and a little dramatic without being over the top. So we paired two materials that play off each other really well: warm walnut and a bold black stone with sharp white veining.
The stone
Right in the center, a large black slab runs from the console up to the ceiling. The white veins cut across it like lightning, so every slab is one of a kind. It also has a polished finish that reflects the recessed lights above, which gives the wall a lot of depth, especially at night. The TV mounts right onto the stone, and all the cables are hidden behind it.
The walnut
On both sides of the stone, we ran vertical walnut slat panels from floor to ceiling. The slats add texture and warmth, and they balance out how dark and glossy the stone is. They also continue underneath the console all the way to the floor, so the whole wall reads as one piece.
The floating console
Along the bottom we built a long floating console in matching walnut. The doors are book matched, which means the wood grain mirrors itself across each pair of doors, almost like a pattern. Behind those doors there’s plenty of room for media equipment, games, and anything else that usually clutters up a living room. Since it floats off the floor, the room feels lighter and cleaning underneath is easy.
Why it works
Walnut and black stone are both rich on their own, but together they balance each other out. The stone brings drama, the wood brings warmth, and the clean lines keep it modern. Once the furniture went in, the wall tied the whole room together.
