White and Gray Kitchen with a Custom Range Hood and Crystal Chandeliers
Some kitchens are built for everyday cooking. This one was built for that and for hosting. The homeowners love to cook and entertain, and they wanted a kitchen that felt elegant without being stuffy. With two crystal chandeliers, a pro style range, and a giant island, we think it checks every box.
The hood steals the show
The centerpiece is a custom painted wood range hood with stacked crown molding that runs all the way to the ceiling. It sits above a Wolf rangetop with a griddle in the middle and those classic red knobs. Behind it, a travertine backsplash laid on the diagonal with a decorative inset panel adds warmth and old world texture, and it carries up above the upper cabinets for a finished look.
Two tones, classic shaker
The uppers are a bright white shaker with crown molding, and a few of them have glass doors and glass shelves for showing off stemware. The lowers are a soft gray stain where you can still see the wood grain. Matte black pulls run throughout and tie in with the black window frames and faucets. Everywhere outside the range area, white quartz with a fine gray vein runs from the counter up to the bottom of the uppers, with warm lighting underneath.
Built for real cooking
On the left side of the kitchen, we built a tall gray cabinet wall that frames the refrigerator and a double wall oven, with storage above and below. Next to the rangetop there’s a microwave drawer tucked into the base cabinets so it stays out of sight. A second sink sits under the big window, so two people can work at once without bumping into each other.
The island
The island is huge, with plenty of room to prep, serve, and gather. It has a workstation sink with a bamboo cutting board that slides right across the top, a dishwasher on one side, and open cubbies on the end for cookbooks or serving pieces. Two tiered crystal chandeliers hang above it and make the whole room sparkle.
The coffee bar
Just outside the kitchen, we also finished a separate coffee and beverage bar with a white paneled front and a quartz top, so the espresso machine and drinks have their own spot away from the cooking area.
The result
A kitchen that feels classic and elegant but works like a pro kitchen, and a space that’s ready for anything from a quiet breakfast to a full dinner party.
