White and Gray Shaker Kitchen with a Farmhouse Sink
This kitchen is proof that a classic layout can still feel fresh. The homeowners wanted something bright and welcoming, with plenty of storage and a few details that make it feel special. We gave them both.
Two tones that just work
The upper cabinets are a crisp white shaker, and the lowers are a soft gray stain where you can still see a bit of the wood grain. The white keeps the top half of the room light and airy, while the gray adds warmth down low and hides everyday wear. Long champagne bronze pulls run across every door and drawer and give the whole kitchen a warm glow.
A backsplash with some shine
Behind the cooktop and along the counters, we installed a glass subway tile with a soft marble pattern printed in. It catches the light from the window and the recessed cans, so the wall almost sparkles in the afternoon. A stainless chimney hood sits right in the middle, framed by white cabinets on both sides.
The sink
At the end of the peninsula there’s a big white farmhouse sink with a brushed gold spring faucet that’s honestly as much a statement piece as it is a tool. The quartz around it has a fine gold and gray vein that runs throughout the kitchen and ties into the hardware.
Storage everywhere
On the far wall, we built a full run of tall gray pantry cabinets that hold just about everything. Next to the refrigerator there’s a glass front upper cabinet for displaying glassware, and underneath it a microwave drawer tucked into the base cabinets so the counter stays clear. The double wall oven has its own tall cabinet on the cooking side, close to the induction cooktop.
The island
The island is finished in the same gray as the lowers, with a paneled back that gives it a furniture feel from the living room. Two clear glass pendants with brass caps hang above it, and there’s room for a stool or two at the end for morning coffee.
A bright, warm kitchen with storage for days. That’s exactly what this family was hoping for.
