White and Grey Shaker Kitchen with Glass Cabinets and a Waterfall Peninsula

This kitchen was a great example of how much a smart design can do in a compact space. The homeowners wanted more storage, a brighter look and a better connection to the dining and living area next door. We kept the layout efficient and focused on details that make the room feel bigger, lighter and much more functional.

Cabinets

We went with a two tone shaker design. The upper cabinets are bright white and finished with crown molding, with soft lighting tucked above them that washes the ceiling in a warm glow. Two glass front cabinets on either side of the microwave have glass shelves and interior lighting, giving the homeowners a beautiful place to display glassware and dishes while breaking up the solid doors.

Next to the refrigerator, a tall pantry cabinet adds a huge amount of storage, and a cabinet above the fridge completes the built in look. For the lower cabinets and the peninsula, we chose a soft light grey that adds contrast and hides everyday wear. Matte black pulls on every door and drawer tie both colors together, and we even used black outlet covers to keep the look consistent.

Countertops and Backsplash

The countertops are a bright white quartz with very subtle veining that keeps the kitchen feeling clean and open. We carried the same quartz up the wall as a full slab backsplash, so there are no grout lines to clean and the space feels seamless. Under cabinet lighting makes the whole surface glow in the evening.

The Peninsula

The peninsula opens the kitchen to the dining and living area, so cooking and conversation can happen at the same time. It holds a black workstation sink with a built in cutting board and drying rack, a matte black pull down faucet and the dishwasher, with a stack of deep drawers at the end. The quartz wraps down the side in a waterfall edge for a clean, modern finish that looks great from the living room.

Flooring

To set the kitchen apart, we installed large format porcelain tile with a polished marble look. The glossy white surface with soft grey veining reflects light and makes the room feel more spacious.

The Result

The finished kitchen is bright, organized and full of thoughtful touches, with glowing glass cabinets, plenty of storage and a waterfall peninsula that connects it to the rest of the home.
