White and Light Grey Shaker Kitchen with a Waterfall Island for Five
With soaring ceilings and clerestory windows pouring light into the room, this home already had an amazing setting. The homeowners wanted a kitchen that would feel balanced and symmetrical, with plenty of room for family and friends to gather. We designed one long, organized cooking wall and paired it with an island big enough to become the true center of the house.
The perimeter features white shaker cabinets topped with crown molding, framed on both ends by tall pantry towers that give the family a huge amount of storage. On either side of the range, we added glass front cabinets with glass shelves to display glassware and everyday dishes and to break up the solid doors with a lighter look. The refrigerator is set into its own space with a cabinet above, so the whole wall feels built in and finished.
For the lower cabinets and the island we switched to a soft light grey shaker. It adds just enough contrast to the white uppers to give the room depth while keeping everything calm and airy. Matte black pulls run throughout and tie in with the black faucet, the pot filler and the dome pendants overhead.
The island is the real showpiece. It is a long stretch of white quartz with gentle veining that drops down both ends in a waterfall edge, and it comfortably seats five. A large undermount sink with a matte black faucet makes it the main prep station, so whoever is cooking can face the room and stay part of the conversation.
On the back wall, a professional style range sits under a stainless hood, with a black pot filler mounted right above it so filling big pots of water is effortless. We ran the same quartz up the wall as a full slab backsplash, which keeps the look clean and makes cleanup a breeze.
The result is a kitchen that feels bright, organized and welcoming, designed for big family breakfasts and busy weekend gatherings alike.
