White Shaker Kitchen, Built In Desk and Custom Media Wall
This project started as a kitchen remodel and grew into something bigger. The homeowners have an open floor plan where the kitchen, dining area and family room all flow together, and they wanted every piece to feel connected. We designed a bright white kitchen, a built in desk nook and a custom media wall, all using the same cabinetry and warm brass hardware so the whole space feels like one thoughtful design.
The Kitchen
We kept the kitchen classic and fresh with white shaker cabinets and champagne bronze pulls that add a soft, warm glow. On the appliance wall, the range sits between deep drawer stacks, with the microwave above and cabinets on both sides. The refrigerator is framed by a cabinet above and a tall pantry beside it, so the entire wall looks clean and built in. We ran the white quartz up the wall as a full slab backsplash behind the range, keeping everything simple and easy to clean.
The other side of the kitchen is a long peninsula that runs from the window wall right into the family room. It holds the sink, the dishwasher and a long run of deep drawers, giving the family tons of storage and a huge stretch of counter space for prep and serving. A brass pull down faucet under the window ties in beautifully with the hardware, and the white quartz countertop with soft veining and a thick edge gives the peninsula real presence. Because it faces the family room, whoever is cooking can stay part of the conversation.
The Built In Desk
Just off the kitchen, we created a built in desk nook that has quickly become one of the homeowners’ favorite spots. Two tall cabinet towers with crown molding frame the space, each with storage above, drawers in the middle and cabinets below. The quartz desktop matches the kitchen counters, and behind it we installed a vertical wood slat panel that adds warmth, texture and a modern touch. It is the perfect place to pay bills, plan meals or let the kids do homework while dinner is cooking.
The Media Wall
In the family room, we built a long custom media console with white shaker drawers and doors, using the same brass pulls as the kitchen. Instead of stone, we topped it with a warm natural wood surface that softens the room and ties in with the wood slat panel in the desk nook. Above the console, four floating wood shelves with built in lighting create a soft glow in the evening and give the family a place to display photos, books and decor. Everything electronic stays neatly hidden in the cabinets below.
Flooring
To pull all three spaces together, we installed light wood look flooring throughout the main living area. The warm, natural tone complements the white cabinetry and wood accents and makes the open plan feel even more connected.
The Result
The finished space is bright, warm and beautifully organized, with a kitchen built for cooking and gathering, a desk nook that keeps daily life on track and a media wall that makes the family room feel complete.
