Navy and White Shaker Kitchen with a Statement Island
The owners of this home wanted a kitchen that felt like the heart of the house, a place where the kids could do homework, friends could gather, and dinner could actually get made without everyone bumping into each other. The layout was already open and full of light, so our job was to make the space work harder and look a whole lot better doing it.
We went with a two tone look. The lower cabinets and the island are a deep navy shaker, and the uppers are crisp white shaker that run all the way up toward the ceiling for extra storage. The navy keeps the room grounded and gives it some real character, while the white up top keeps everything feeling open and airy. Champagne gold pulls on every door and drawer tie the two colors together.
The island is the star of the show. It is big enough to seat four comfortably, with an undermount sink and a brushed gold faucet so prep and cleanup happen right in the middle of the action. We topped it, along with the perimeter, in a white quartz with soft gray veining that gives the look of marble without the upkeep.
On the back wall we carried that same quartz up as a slab backsplash, which keeps things clean and easy to wipe down. Behind the cooktop, though, we added a little fun: a marble chevron mosaic that runs up to the stainless hood and gives the eye a focal point. The appliance package includes a sleek induction cooktop, double wall ovens and a microwave drawer tucked neatly into the lower cabinets, so nothing clutters the counters.
Finished off with black lantern pendants over the island, this kitchen is now ready for busy weeknights and long weekend dinners alike.
