White Shaker Kitchen with a Waterfall Island and Copper Hood

When we first walked into this home, the kitchen had good bones but it was not living up to the rest of the house. The homeowners wanted something bright and timeless with a couple of pieces that would make guests stop and look. We think we delivered on both.

The island is easily the showpiece. We wrapped it in a white stone with bold gray veining and carried the slab down both ends in a waterfall edge, so it looks like one solid block of stone sitting in the middle of the room. Our fabrication team took extra care lining up the veins at every seam and corner, which is what makes the stone flow naturally from the top down the sides. There is plenty of room for four stools, and an undermount stainless sink with a pull down faucet keeps the island fully functional for everyday cooking and cleanup.

Around the perimeter we installed white shaker cabinets with staggered heights in the corner, finished with crown molding to match the ceiling details in the home. Satin nickel pulls keep the look clean. A tall cabinet tower holds the wall oven and microwave combo at a comfortable height, so no one has to bend down to check on dinner.

Above the cooktop, a copper range hood with brushed steel straps adds warmth and a bit of old world charm to an otherwise crisp, modern space. Behind it, a soft white glass subway tile runs the length of the counters and glows beautifully with the under cabinet lighting at night.

Glass cylinder pendants over the island finish the room without blocking the view. The result is a kitchen that feels open, bright and welcoming, with just enough drama to make it memorable.
